Admissions

By enrolling at Brown Mackie College – Akron, you’ve taken an exciting first step toward achieving your goals. Below is some information to help answer questions you may have now. We encourage you to contact us with any additional questions.

General Admission Requirements 

  • You must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited high school or state-approved secondary education curriculum, or documentation of high school graduation equivalency.
  • Admission is also based on educational records and career interests.
  • Depending on your program of interest, you may have to meet special enrollment requirements.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring the College receives all documentation.
  • Records become the property of the College.

Financial Aid 
Concerns about costs shouldn't keep you from your goals. Our dedicated staff helps qualified students obtain financial assistance to meet educational expenses.

  • Resources may include government aid, loans from private lenders, and work-study opportunities.
  • Any U.S. citizen, national, or person in the United States for other than temporary reasons enrolled or accepted for enrollment may apply.
  • Most forms of assistance are available each July 1-June 30 award period.
  • Students should request the Student Guide, published by the U.S. Department of Education, available in the Student Financial Services Office. It explains requirements, processes, deadlines, and grants and loans.
  • All financial information you provide will be treated as confidential by Brown Mackie College – Akron in accordance with the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

Orientation
New student orientation begins the week before classes start. Students will be notified of dates and times.

Tuition 
A list of tuition and fees is available from the Admissions Office and in the College Bulletin. The College reserves the right to modify tuition. It’s the student’s responsibility to remain apprised of accounts.

Transfer Credits 
Brown Mackie College – Akron evaluates credits for transfer from accredited colleges and universities based on:

  • The accreditation of the institution where credits were earned.
  • The age of credits. Credits older than ten years aren’t accepted.
  • The compatibility of course descriptions and objectives with those of courses in the program at Brown Mackie College – Akron.
  • The grade earned (must be at least a C, or 2.00 on a 4.00 scale).
  • The convertibility of credit hours, 1 semester credit hour as 1.5 quarter credit hours.
