Brown Mackie College — Tulsa to Host Weekly Information Sessions About Its Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree Program
Wednesday, February 01, 2012
(Tulsa, OK – February 1, 2012) Brown Mackie College — Tulsa will hold weekly Information Sessions about its Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree program. The sessions will take place every Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the campus located at 4608 S. Garnett Road, Suite 110 in Tulsa.
The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree program will prepare students for the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) examination to become a registered nurse (RN). The program will also prepare graduates to function as highly-skilled members of the health care team in hospitals, long term care facilities, home health and a variety of other health care settings. In addition, the program will enable students to acquire principles and knowledge from the biological and behavioral sciences, as well as the science of nursing.
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition, employment of registered nurses is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. Growth will be driven by technological advances in patient care, which permit a greater number of health problems to be treated, and by an increasing emphasis on preventive care. In addition, the number of older people, who are much more likely than younger people to need nursing care, is projected to grow rapidly.
